Cinema Screening & Class Feedback

When I watched our final thriller project in the cinemas, I was able to capture the whole thing on footage along with people's reactions while they was watching it. In my opinion, our thriller film was one of the finest and most effective ones out of the many others, as there were a lot of laughter towards other clips. Everyone took our one serious and were at the edge of their seats in shock of the paranormal events happening.

Evaluation - 4&5) What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? How will you attract/address your audience?

TASK: Discuss how the internet has been used to launch this movie to a wider audience, then explain how you have followed a similar model yourself.

Seeing as our final opening was at a low budget production, I dont think we would get a million of recognition like we dreamed of. But that doesnt stop me from spreading and sharing the video, as the internet is probably the easiest place to advertise. The main websites used are mainly social networking sites such as:

• YouTube - a video sharing website on which users can upload and share videos.
• Facebook - a social networking website on which users can keep up to date with there friends.
• Twitter - a social networking and microblogging service that enables its users to send and read messages known as tweets.
• Tumblr - a blogging platform that allows users to post text, images, video, links, quotes, and audio to their tumblelog, a short-form blog.
• Vimeo -  a video-centric social networking site similar to YouTube.

Amongst these websites, they give users the power to 'Like' and 'Comment' on the video/link to show you their opinion on it. You can also subscribe or follow to keep up to date with the company, and even share or reblog it to other people! Below are screenshots of how they work.

Evaluation - 1) In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

      

Our titles sequence follows the conventional ideas of a typical supernatural thriller, the thriller we was inspired by and followed trates in Paranormal activity has a lot of similar shots compared to our very own. 

 The suspense in some of the shots in mine and Paranormal activity is created because in the doorway we can see the girls looking very scary and it just creates this atmosphere in the scene of spookiness. 

we both followed the CCTV footage trends. :-

What Could Have gone into development

If we had more time to film, there is so much more we wanted to include to make our film flow easier and to show off more of our magical camera skills.

We wanted to add a scene of a flashback of the two twins when they were young playing with each other, then one of them either fades away or flickers out of the shot, and the other twin says 'what happened to my sister' if we included this it would have made it more obvious to the storyline.

Another thing we wanted to include was in perhaps every scene have the little girl thats dead appear behind the main character without her knowing so that it created some suspense for our audience.

Credits

Seeing as our group only consists of three people we made it compulsory for us to create imaginary names that will appear to have stared and helped in creating of the film. This was done so our film would look more professional and sufficient as no real film consists of only 3 members.

Change Name ..... AGAIN!....

We went from footage to siblings and back round again but after much deliberation i thought the name was too simple i wanted a name that would be remembered so we took our name changing consideration to the public, we gave a new option called INDIFFERENT and people thought that that was better than the previous 2 names so its decided the final name is INDIFFERENT!

Working in a team

Working in a team like this has taught me alot especially in the media industry, as we assigned everyone roles we'vre realised that if one person in unorganises the rest are unable to go on. However this dosent mean you should stop in your tracks of your production completely, it means you should take it upon urself to carry out and do the tasks required.

I am experienceing these types of diffriculties in my group at the moment but its shown me to only continue further even if things don't come out as expected and a member of the group shows very little intrest and barely any effort.

However the benefit of this is that because one member has no input you have to carry tasks between two and it makes it easier to organise and you can make sure things get done efficiently, simon and myself have been there on both filming days and edited all of the footage. It's a good team effort!

Soundtrack Disagreement

During the decision of choosing what sounds should be made when we came to a disagreement because we all had different opinions, I thought that on the begginging part we should play non digetic sound of the girls headphones music in her ears then after she gets in the hous the sound should stop knowing the scene has set into place.

Tharek on the other hand said hat we should already have the spooky music to he set into place therefore we will grab the audiences attention and hopefully this kind of spooky music should be played all the way through.

As we didn't know which one to choose we are going to try both and see which one pans out better.

Movie Ident

This is our ident that we hope to put into the film, to make our film seem more proffesional we came up with this ident to seem like we were a proffesional movie company

Why use a girl ?

We used a girl for our main character because we wanted to portray the character  as a victim of her dead twin to use a male would have been more boistrous and the audience would have maybe expected a fight or some male testosterone action.

We didnt want to give that kind  of image so we used a girl to make it seem more femenine and innocent, without being sexist, generally women are made to look innocent and more weak than males all over media therefore we thaught it was it was a good idea.

FLICKERING EFFECT

Throughout most of our film we have used a consistent effect of flickering, we used it when the dead girl appears many times and we even used it in our credits with the titles.

The effect gives a consistent theme to the audience and potrays the image of distoretedness and some entity of supernatural, this is the effect we are trying to give of so we have achieve the target for this the target audience which is anyone from teens to middle age adults will find it intreging. As this is the thing they look for in supernatural thrillers.
